Hell Bendering

My friend Bryan, a reptile/amphibian enthusiast, wanted to take the boys to catch their first hell bender.  The boys have been wanting to catch the elusive "bender" for a long time now.  Bryan said he knew a place in the Davidson River where he has "never failed" to catch one.  Well, we didn't have any luck with hell benders but we had a great time.  Bryan calls it the "curse of the Scalas" as we have been out twice with no luck.  With or without hell benders, it's always fun to explore the river.

Miss Priss has no intention of getting into the ice cold water

These two, on the other hand, were ready to rock and roll

Scientists in the making

She just wanted to look the part

We did find a fresh water lampray

Unfortunately, it was dead

I even braved the water to look at a hog nosed sucker
