Gramma's Here!!!

Gramma came to visit us for Halloween! Grady has been talking about her coming for a week now and he is so excited that she is here. She was nice enough to watch the boys for night while Josh and I went out to eat with some friends. Imagine that, a night out without kids!! We had a blast while poor Gramma was stuck with Myles, who cried most of the time. Thank you, Gramma...we owe you one! We missed Grandpa this time. Hopefully, we will see him soon.

Of course we had to spend plenty of time playing in Gramma truck. One of Grady favorite things to do.

What a treat!! Gramma brought the 4 wheeler from her house. The boys had so much fun on it.

G had more fun without Myles on it. He could go faster and drive like a crazy man.

The Pumpkin Patch

The great pumpkin hunt was on last weekend! We headed out to Hickory Nut Gap Farm to check out their pumpkin patch. Despite freezing weather, we were successful. Grady found his perfect pumpkin.

After searching long and hard, G found the "oval" pumpkin that he was looking for. No round pumpkins would do for this guy.

Actually, the pumpkin he really wanted was this smashed one. He was fascinated by the demise of this poor pumpkin. He kept asking what happened to it.

George of the Jungle! Grady LOVED the rope swing in the barn. I couldn't believe it when he jumped from the hay bale and held on. It was hilarious!! We had to do it over and over.

The Tweetsie Railroad

Today we decided to check out the Tweetsie Railroad in Boone, NC. It's a wild west theme park packed full of cowboys, Indians, trains and other great things for kids. Although it was 49 degrees and overcast, Grady loved every minute of it. Myles even liked the train ride.

The boys in front of the Tweetsie Train. As you ride the train cowboys and Indians jump out at you and put on performances. Not so PC but Grady loved the action! He kept asking where the "aliens" were. We finally figured out that he meant "Indians".

We put the boys in the Tweetsie Jail. They thought it was pretty funny. Don't get use to that kids!!

G decided to sit down and take a break. He wanted to watch the train and didn't care that he was in the middle of the sidewalk.

We bought G a giant lolly pop. Needless to say, he was covered in it by the end of the day. Nothing like lolly pop and black fleece stuck to your face and neck.

Missing Mimi and Papaw already!!

Mimi and Papaw's house was turned upside down when our two little boys arrived. They are used to the peace and quite of retired life. Little did they know they would have to answer the question "WHY" 500 times a day or deal with a baby who is the biggest mamas boy ever. They still say they are happy we came.....

I picture them drinking heavily as soon as we got out the door!

We also made it up to visit Aunt Patti, Uncle Steve and AJ. It was great to see them and let the boys get to know them better. Like true Scala style, there was food galore! Patti, thank you so much for the wonderful pasta. I swear every time I visit Josh's family I gain 10 pounds. It's all that irresistible Italian food. It was so fun catching up with family!

Grady is already asking when we can go back up to visit Mimi and Papaw. We need to give their nerves some time to settle!!!

Mimi and Grady are two peas in a pod. I don't know any two people that like to laugh and be silly as much as they do.

Watch out!!! Myles can crawl. It's funny, Grady started crawling at the same age and at my folks house.

Papaw is one of the only people Myles will tolerate holding him. He only has eyes for mom.

A Taste of DC

I love the fact that my parents live so close to Washington, DC. There are endless museums for the kids to check out. During this visit we decided to go to the National Aquarium and the National History Museum. One great thing about it, most of the museums are FREE!

Grady found a great bug at the insect zoo. What a wonderful exhibit for kids...and adults. It was full of insects, spiders and other creepy crawlies.

This was Grady's favorite exhibit. Well, maybe not his favorite but he was fascinated by it. It was a diorama of some t-rex dinosaurs eating another dinosaur. He wanted to "smash the glass and save the little dinosaur and wipe off that red paint". Here is Mimi trying to explain that it isn't real. I don't think she convinced him. If you ask him what he saw at the museum he says,

"you remember that little hurt dinosaur?"

Uncle Will plays hookie from work and joins us at the Aquarium.
He bought G the little stuffed crab he is holding. Right after he bought it Grady took it into the bathroom with us. While I was changing Myles, I heard the water running in the sink. Grady had turned the water on and dropped the crab in it. He then stated that, "crabs belong in the water."
