Grady's 6th Birthday (at school)

Happy 6th Birthday, Grady.  The big day was on a Wednesday and Grady requested that I bring chocolate covered strawberries to school.  His buddy, BellaRose, shares the same birthday and she asked her mom to bring strawberry shortcake.  I think it's pretty funny that they planned the menu.  Here are a few shots from his actual birthday.  We are going to have the party this coming weekend.  Stay tuned for the "messy" party.

Mimi sent both of the boys snorkel sets.  They have been wearing them around the house....who needs water?

Uncle Nick and Aunt Carolyn sent a huge bag.  It was a RC boat.  Grady was so excited.  We took it out to the lake this past weekend to give it a spin.

After dinner we went for a walk around Montreat.  Grady had a fun birthday but can't wait for his party.

Mother's Day Weekend

We started Mother's Day weekend off by taking a boat ride.  It was overcast and a little cool but that didn't stop us from heading to the lake.  The boys (Josh included) are dying to get in the water.  It hasn't been warm enough yet.  Summer will be here soon enough.  It was a great day, spent with my favorite people.

In the afternoon, we headed to the community garden and got our plot ready for planting.

 

It was a long day for baby girl.  The gardening put her over the edge. 

The Art Show

I started working with an after school program teaching environmental education at the beginning of the school year.  I was approached by the director who wanted to add to her art based program.  She knew I taught envrio ed at Chimney Rock and thought I would be a good addition to her team. 

I have loved working at Art in the Afternoon.  The create amazing works and are such loving teachers. 

At the end of the year they display all of the kid's art work at the Black Mountain library.  It is quite the show.  Seeing all of their work in one room is breath taking.  See for yourself......

 

 

They reuse materials for most of their art work.  This is why my enviro ed lessons fit in so well.
