Greenville Children's Museum

Yesterday, we headed down to Greenville,SC to visit my mom's sister, Duffy. She suggested that we check out the Greenville Children's Museum. What a great idea! The boys needed to get out and run around after all the bad weather we have been having. Plus, we were able to visit with Aunt Duffy as she joined us in our adventure.

The museum was really cool. It was built less than two years ago so it was nice and new. The exhibits were interesting and the boys loved every minute of it. Mom, Duffy and I enjoyed it as well. Thanks for the suggestion, Aunt Duffy!

Grady soon tired of the water so Duffy took him to check out another section of the museum. It was great to see you Duffy. Hopefully, we will see you again soon.

What a cool climbing sculpture. It was beautiful and functional. Grady climbed it like a little tree frog.

Grady really wanted Myles to join him even though, there were signs posted everywhere "3 and up only". Breaking the LAW!! Myles needed some help from big bro.

Winter Doldrums

I haven't posted much lately as we haven't been doing much of anything! It's been super cold outside so we have been housebound. We try to go out and play or ride bikes but after ten minutes the boys want to come in. So, we have tried to make the best of our inside time. Oh, and we spend a lot of time at the library.... Did I mention that I hate winter?!

We are really looking forward to Tuesday when Mimi and Papaw come to visit. Papaw is dropping Mimi off and then heading down to Mississippi to see his Dad. Mimi will stay with us for the week, HOORAY!! The boys are so excited....So, am I!! I need to talk to someone about something other than Star Wars, swords, cars, or monster trucks.

We have had more sword fights that I can possibly count. An epic battle breaks out at least every hour or so. We are fortunate that no one has lost an eye....yet.

Both boys are usually well armed. You never know when you have to defend the house from Darth Vader.

We pull the couch bed out all the time. It doubles as a fort, boat, car, flying carpet, etc.

We do a lot of lounging. At least the boys love to be together. I would be in trouble if they didn't. Notice Myles "stopper" (pacifier)? This should be one of the last pictures with it in his mouth. He knows that we are going to throw them away when he turns two. The day is arriving soon. I can't wait, that thing drives me crazy!


Here is the self proclaimed "bad guy". Grady is always, "Yoda or Luke Skywalker" so that leaves Myles as the bad guy. He doesn't seem to mind.

Snow Day

Yesterday was a snow day for all of us. Grady's school was cancelled, Josh couldn't get into work and Myles and I were happy to have the company. I think we got about 6 inches of snow. We braved the weather to play in the winter wonderland. I think we were out for about 30 minutes when my Southern boys couldn't take the cold any longer. I was right there with them. Burrr!

Sledding down the road. Last year my dad fixed up my old sled for the boys. This was the first time we have been able to use it this year.

We made a snowman, appropriately named, Frosty. How creative....

What's missing from Frosty's face?? Grady ate the carrot nose! The evidence was in his mouth. It didn't last long.

Bunk Beds

Bye, Bye crib. Hello, bunk beds! The boys were so excited that their new bunk beds arrived. After several hours of assembly(and 4 letter words), they were ready to go. Josh began putting them together on Friday then got the stomach bug on Saturday. So, the boys patiently waited until Dad was feeling up to the task.

Grady and Myles both really wanted to "help" put them together. I don't know how much "help" they were besides causing their dad's head to explode. I joined them in aggravating Josh by asking if he was doing something correctly. His response, "Katharine, I build houses for a living. I can put a bunk bed together!" Okay, time to exit the room.....

Blood, sweat and tears aside, the beds are ready for bedtime tonight. Yipee!!

Well, they are not quite complete. We still have to buy a mattress for the top bunk. Right now, the crib mattress serves as a platform for them to play on. They prefer to sleep in the same bed anyway.

Our 2nd Christmas of 2010

We had another great Christmas with Mimi, Papaw and Uncle Will. Santa visited Virginia as well as PA. He brought a ton of things for all of us. We were not expecting another big Christmas! Thanks, Mom and Dad, I love ya'll!!!

During our stay in VA we had to make the rounds to the Natural History Museum and the National Zoo. The boys insist that we go to both places whenever we visit Mimi and Papaw. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed our time outside.

As for the pictures posted below....one of Grady's favorite gifts was a "KidiZoom" digital camera. He was always using my camera to take pics so I suggested to Santa that he bring him his own. He ran around like crazy snapping pictures. We had to bring it to the zoo as well. All the pics on this post are from his camera (I'm sure you can tell!). He will be a professional photographer in no time.

We were so happy Uncle Will came home from Brussels for the holidays. I don't think we will see him until September. We miss you already!!
