Memories

We had a very cold, damp weekend.  Not too much going on in the Scala household.  We did manage to sell our Prius to the first person who looked at it.  It was on Craigslist for less than 24 hours before it sold.  I have to say, I was sad to see it go.  Not just because of the gas milage but all the memories attached to it.  We brought both of the boys home from the hospital in that car.  We've had some great family trips with her (and some not so great ones).  It's just hard to say goodbye to something that reminds you of happy times.  Oh well, things change....time to move on.

On a happier note, Josh and I had the great idea for indoor sandboxes.  Uhhh, what were we thinking?

The boys loved them!!  My vaccume, not so much.  I am still cleaning up sand.

They now reside outside on the back deck. 

Uncle Nick and Aunt Carolyn sent Myles a set of dinosaur teeth and claws.  Man, was that a hit.  They have been digging for fossils for the past 3 days.  Thank you, Nick and Carolyn.

Straight Pimpin'

The day has finally come......we now own a minivan.  I never thought I would see this day but it was inevitable.  The boys have been driving us nuts in the Prius and with the addition of a foster child, there was no way the Prius would do.  Unfortunatly, this comes at a time when gas prices are at an all time high.  I will just have to curb my drives into Asheville. 

Thank you Grandpa Joseph and Grandma Nancy for selling us your van.  We are all enjoying it.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Myles

Myles is 3...Wow.  He woke up this morning to a few presents and breakfast bacon.  Josh and I bought him a huge stuffed dinosaur and an aircraft carrier.  He was very pleased with his new gifts. 

Later in the day, his buddies came over for a party.  All the kiddos had a blast, running all over the house like wild people.  Needless to say, the boys were almost asleep before their heads hit the pillows. 

Myles loved his new toys.  He did a great job sharing with Grady.

The Clown Cars Last Trip

 We had a nice trip home but we were all a little sad as it marked the last road trip in our clown car.  We have made the decision to sell our beloved Prius and get a bigger vehicle.  Tell you the truth, I'm surprised we lasted this long in our tiny car.  So, the ride was bittersweet.  I even laughed when I opened the door at the gas station and 500 items spilled out.  Usually that occasion is reserved for not so nice expletives.  Josh is picking up our new vehicle this weekend and the Prius will be put up for sale.  Anyone in the market for a much loved Prius???

Final Days at the Beach

On our final days at the beach we took a trip to Wilmington.  Josh, Grady and Myles went to check out the USS North Carolina.  While I love a good battleship, I decided to spend the day with my mom and Kate.  We walked around the city and checked out some shops.  It was nice to have some time with the ladies and the boys loved having some solo time with Dad.

If you're wondering why there are not any pictures of Myles on the Battleship, it's because Josh had to hold him the entire time.  He's in a Dad phase right now.

 

 On our last day, we went to the Fort Fisher Aquarium.

 "Hey Myles, put your face really close to the alligators head.  I need to get a picture."  I don't think I will utter those words ever again.  It even sounded funny coming out of my mouth.

Birthday Party #1

Mimi and Kate arrived on Wednesday bearing gifts for Myles 3rd Birthday.  His actual birthday is on the 19th but we had a little celebration at the beach.  Mimi and Papaw bought Myles all sorts of goodies.  He was thrilled.

Winter Beach Fun

Mom called a few weeks ago and asked us if we wanted to meet her at the beach.  Uhhh, Yes!! She didn't have to ask us twice.  My mom's friend offered us her beautiful beach house in Kure Beach, NC. 30 minutes south of Wilmington.  I cannot tell you how amazing this place is.  It's right on the water and the town is adorable.  We arrived Tuesday and will stay until Sunday.  The weather has been agreeable and we are all enjoying our spur of the moment vacation.  Stay tuned for more pics.
