The "Messy" Party

This year, for Grady's 6th birthday, he asked for a "messy" party.  I thought it was a great idea.  We had a slip and slide covered with soap, water balloons, water guns, a pool full of corn starch and water, a mud/dirt pit and a pie eating contest.  I think the party was a hit as all the kids (and some adults) were thoroughly covered in goo by the end.  How are we going to top this party next year?

I think by the end of the party the moms wanted to kill me.  Their kids were covered in slop and hopped up on sugar.  At least the kids had a great time.

Kindergarten Graduation

Grady graduated from Kindergarten last week.  He was so excited to finish the school year but misses his friends already.  Luckily, he loves school and is thrilled to be in 1st grade.  Check out some of the highlights from the big day.....

The night before, the boys wanted to pick out their outfits.  This is what they came up with.  I can't begrudge them their amazing style.  This is what they wore on graduation day.

He won the Thomas Edison award for excelling in science.  His teacher said, "Its not often that kids really teach me something.  Grady taught me a lot."  That's my science nerd.

We took the boys to their first protest a few weekends ago.  May was March Against Monsanto month.  For you all that don't know, Monsanto is a mega company that produces seeds made with genetically modified organisms.  It makes me sick that these GMO's are put in our food without our awareness.  We were rallying against Monsanto and for the labeling of GMO's in our food. 

While the boys are young, they still understand the importance of eating healthy and keeping "chemicals" out of our food.

Field Day

Wow! Did field day bring back some happy memories or what?!  This use to be one of my favorite days during elementary school.  It is still relatively the same but less competition.  We use to get the coveted blue ribbon for a job well done.  Grady's school just had fun, no ribbons, no winner or losers.  They had a blast and can't wait for next year.

 

 

Tug of War.  Grady's teachers let Myles participate as well.  He would not have been happy sitting on the sidelines.  Myles needs to be in the thick of things.
