Construction Update

As you can see, we haven't been doing much but trying to get this addition finished. At least our weekends have been really crummy. It's about 45 degrees and nasty. I have no desire to go outside so I have been keeping the boys entertained inside. Here are some pics of the project.

This is what it looks like today. The plumber came and finished up what he needed to do. Josh will call in his inspections tomorrow and start insulating. You can see where the washer and dryer will go.....to the left when you walk in. They will be behind bi-fold doors.

Since we started the project, Grady has been asking to knock a hole in the wall. Josh gave him a shot at it today. He can't wait until Josh cuts the hole into our bedroom. Boys are so strange!

This is a random picture but I though it was so cute. My dad made the boys walking sticks for our summer hiking trips. He loves it so much that he has been wanting to sleep with it.

Progress

Josh has been moving right along with the addition. It now has walls and he's starting the roof. The plumber and electrician are coming this week to give Josh a hand. He is never short of "help" from the boys. They love to "help" him carry his tools (or move them places when he is not looking). If you turn around long enough, one of the boys is usually half way up the 12ft ladder. Needless to say, we try to give Josh space and stay away.

The "play hole". Grady begged Josh to dig him a "play hole" after he saw him dig the footers. Poor Josh had to dig another very deep hole for the boys to play in. What a great dad!

Myles decided to make mud pies....notice the absence of pants? He was covered in mud. And no, I didn't dress him in a Spiderman tank top over a short sleeve shirt. That was his own creation. Looks even better without pants.

What do you do after a day of playing with tools and mud??? Pass Out! I walked in and they were holding hands. I love to watch them sleep. Grady told me that when he gets scared at night he just snuggles up with Myles and he feels better. They are usually snuggled up together or holding hands.

And So It Begins.....

We have been talking about this for years and it is actually coming to fruition....the addition! Josh and I are in desperate need of more storage space in our house. We have had plans drawn up for about two years and after some tweaking we have settled on adding a master closet and laundry room. It will add 120 sq ft to the house, which is a lot considering our house is only 1200 sq ft. The construction is going to take awhile as Josh is going at it solo. Plus, he can't really take off work to do it so it will be done on his off time. I'm putting him on a time crunch as our washing mashine broke yesterday. It's been on the fritz for a few months. Go figure, the day he starts to build our new laundry room....it dies. We were planing on buying a new washer and dryer so I guess I will be heading to the laundry mat until he is finished. Brings me back to the good ole college days.....but with 200lbs of laundry instead of 10.

Community Garden

We have tried, unsuccessfully, to grow veggies in our yard. It is too wooded and thus, we don't have enough sunlight for anything to grow. Plus, our soil is awful! So, this year we bought a plot in the Black Mountain community garden. Grady and Myles are so excited to get it started.

We began today by pulling weeds which turned into looking for bugs and buried treasure. Whatever makes them happy. I think they will have a great time harvesting veggies from our garden...yes, I am being optimistic! We will have a plethora of healthy vegetables growing in our small plot. Hopefully, I inherited a bit of my mom's green thumb.

They decided to look for some buried treasure. The pink glove being their booty. I just can't get enough of their imaginations. Myles is just as imaginative as Grady. LOVE it!!

On our way home, look what we saw running down our street....A coyote! Pretty cool. I'm looking forward to seeing the black bears in our yard. They should be making an appearance soon.
