A friend of mine invited us to his community apple orchard to pick some organic apples. He was afraid hurricane Irma was going to blow them all out of the trees and they would go to waste. We drove up to Gerton and filled up a 5 gallon bucket of apples. I think we would have picked more but the kids were over it.
Josh has wanted to try to make apple cider so he borrowed a cider press from a friend. It worked great and we were left with 2 gallons of tasty apple cider.
Josh setting up the press
While Josh pressed apples Emma chased the newest chicks around the yard
The chicken whisperer
The newest members of the flock. We are up to 7 chickens
She had just yelled, "are you kidding me?" as the chicks ran from her
She was a pirate
A bird on the glove. Some people have hawks or owls, Em has chickens.
The finished product. It was delicious.
