Josh and I signed up for the Spartan Race in Black Mountain for the second time. Last year we had such a blast! We loved the combination of running, obstacles and good natured competition. We were pretty excited for this year. They totally changed the course, which we expected, but it was for the worst. Most of the obstacles were at the bottom of the mountain, not many in the middle of the race (boring). They lengthened the race to almost 10 miles, which would have been fine except the extra milage was one long uphill. We had to run several miles straight up the mountain without any water stations along the way. Stupid. It was one of the worst courses I have ever ran. I'm not sure if we will do it again next year (although it is pretty fun to get muddy and throw a javelin).
Not really a pic of us but we are in the background.
Running through the river
The course went up through the quarry. We had to fill up buckets with rocks, carry them up the mountain and then back down
Thank goodness that they didn't take a photo of me because I was dying.
The finish
I'm pretty sure neither of us were flexing because we had nothing left. What a rough race!!
