Josh didn't want to take too much time off work, so we went to Chattanooga for a long weekend. We have talked about visiting Chattanooga for a long time as we've heard great things. It didn't disappoint. You could tell they had made some major changes in the last 10 years. There was a lot to see and do for kids, the aquarium, the incline railway and Rock City, just to name a few.
The Incline Railway
Grady wasn't too sure about going up
Or going down (I have to admit, it was a little freaky)
We went to check out Ruby Falls but the lines were too long. We can't handle long lines!
We found an ice cream shop that boasted 17,000 flavor combinations.
Chattanooga had a lot of pedestrian walkways. We enjoyed walking (or in Emma's case, running) from one part of the city to another.
Emma, still running, as usual.
The aquarium was awesome.
The kids got to touch stingrays and sturgeon
Looking for butterflies at the butterfly garden
Swimming with the fishes
A few selfies while playing "switch faces"
We stopped by Rock City. We had no clue what it was but headed that way regardless.
It was really cool! It use to be the private residence of a couple that loved gardening. There were trails all throughout amazing rock outcroppings. The woman loved folklore and fairy tales so they were putting on a fairy tale themed event.
Nooks and Crannies galore
This one was called "Fat Man's Squeeze"
Heading towards a tunnel
A swinging bridge
King Myles and his Jester
Princess Emma
See Seven States lookout
Pretty impressive waterfall
As most of you all know, I am a connoisseur of donuts. We found an amazing shop right down the street from our rental.
I had a key lime donut. Mmmmm, amazing
Chattanooga had no shortage of parks
These statues shoot water in the warmer months
We found a carousel
And played at another park
The boys wanted Josh to throw them like he does Emma. Keep in mind, Grady weighs close to 80 pounds.
Myles went a wee bit higher
On the way back to NC we stopped at the Lost Sea, the second largest underground lake.
Walking into the caves
It was enormous
We enjoyed our spelunking adventure as much as we loved Chattanooga
