Spur of the Moment Adventure

On Tuesday, Josh got a call that the project he was about to start was going to be pushed back until Monday.  Originally, we were going to head to Pittsburgh this week to visit Josh's mom and Peter.  Shelley's whole family was going to PA to celebrate Grandma Nancy's 70th birthday.  A few weeks ago we decided that we couldn't go as Josh had to work.  The pleasures of self employment...if you don't work, you don't get paid.  Well, since the job wasn't going to start until Monday we could head to Pittsburgh.  It worked out perfectly.  So, at 2pm Tuesday we called Shelley and said we would be there the next day.

Our first day in PA was a busy one.  We headed to the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh in the morning as they had a blast last time we went.  It did not disappoint!  What a great hands on museum.  It was voted one of the top 10 Children's museums by Parents magazine.

Next we ran over to visit Gramma at her office.  She works for a trucking company and you know how little boys are with trucks.  After the trucks, we checked out the National Aviary.  Birds, birds, birds....everywhere.  They were flying loose all over the place.  I kept thinking how my brother and dad would have loved it.

Whew, what a busy day.  You would think that would tire out my little guys.  Guess again, they are still running around like mad men.  Tomorrow we are going to the Canfield Fair.  Maybe that will tucker them out....but I doubt it.  Stay tuned.....

Climbing on the cool wall.  Even Dad gave it a try.  You should have seen him try to maneuver the small spaces.

They had a whole room dedicated to pirates.  Check out Captain Myles.

One of the best sandwiches in the world.  Do not knock it until you try it.  Yes, those are french fries and coleslaw on the sandwich.  Whenever we visit Pittsburgh we have to hit up Primanti Brothers.  It's a must!

Visiting the National Aviary.  This was the coolest bird I have ever been around.  If the boys ran, it chased them around like a dog.  They were scared at first and then thought it was hilarious.  Josh and I were laughing so hard that we couldn't help the boys get away from the insane bird.

Checking out a Andean Condor.  Most of the birds were inside but there were a few large birds of prey in outside exhibits.
