....The Black Mountain Scalas are!
On Friday night we cruised the streets of Black Mountain for Holly Jolly. Holly Jolly is a celebration in town where all the stores stay open late for people to shop. The police close down the streets and the crowds are everywhere. The shops all serve cookies, brownies, hot chocolate, cider, etc. There are Christmas carolers on every corner and Santa waits for kids to come sit on his knee. Myles just LOVED Santa. He kept saying that he wanted to give him, "a hug, a kiss and a high five". Who doesn't want to high five Santa?! We bounced from shop to shop enjoying the small town Christmas spirit.
On Saturday, we endured freezing rain and wind to watch the Black Mountain Christmas Parade. It was as entertaining as ever. Pretty much anyone with an extra $10 to pay the fee can be in the parade. Have a junky truck?...put some streamers on it and enter it in the parade. Broken down tractor?....stick in on a trailer and you have a float. That pretty much sums up the parade but we love it! Did I mention that they throw candy as well? Seeing as only the bravest of Black Mountain made it out, we scored some serious candy. Normally, it is pretty hard to get the good stuff but this year we could be picky. The streets were littered with peppermints and butterscotch (the nasty hard candy no one really likes). We made it home with snickers, kisses and other tasty treats. Despite the rain, we enjoyed ourselves.
